In 1934 Friedrich Bauer was one of the very few people who listened to his voice of reason: Among all the various blackletter faces issued at the time, Hamburg-based Trennert & Sohn released Bauer’s geometric sans that bears his name. Friedrich Bauer had only designed roman and blackletter typefaces in his career, Friedrich-Bauer-Grotesk was his first sans and his last typeface altogether.
